Talk about an adventure! If you’re thinking about an outdoor winter wedding I highly recommend taking a few notes from this wedding. The couple did not want to do a first dance but instead had a “first sled”. Armed with a LL Bean toboggan that had cans tied to the back they hit the sledding hill just after their I do’s for their first official ride together. I loved the expressions on their faces and their willingness to get down and have so much fun together.
Alexis and Max had envisioned their wedding day as a day in Acadia surrounded by family and friends, with the lakes, trees, and gorgeous landscapes as their backdrop to their vows. The kicker? They wanted all this in. the. winter! Well they certainly got their wish although the back to back winter storms we received leading up to their wedding certainly put a damper in getting all of their family and friends to their wedding. Unfortunately a few key people were stuck at random points all over the US struggling with the cancellations caused by an ice storm that took over the country from Texas to Maine the day before their wedding. But we know they were all there in spirit and would have done anything they could have to make it there. Alexis and Max spent time making sure they connected with each one via FaceTime throughout the day.
When it comes to small elopements with close family and friends, they really make it! Every small wedding we’ve ever done has had everyone pitching in to help make it amazing. That was definitely apparent with Alexis and Max’s day. Once everyone arrived at Camp Beech Cliff they immediately got to work unloading the cars of decorations, hot cocoa, hot apple cider, s’mores kits, gift bags. While Alexis was busy getting ready in the camp’s main hall everyone was setting up their ceremony location – including troubleshooting the fact that the grounds were covered in a thick layer of ice and the decor kept tipping over. Thanks to some ingenuity by the gentleman in the Viking helmet everything was easily set up and ready to go.
