Charlotte and Ryan’s wedding day was the perfect combination of meaningful traditions, beautiful coastal views, and an absolutely unforgettable party. As SMCC Wedding Photographers, we couldn’t have asked for a more picturesque setting to celebrate these two, from a misty first look on Willard Beach to dancing late into the night beneath the tent at Southern Maine Community College.
The day began with a little Maine weather. Charlotte and Ryan shared their first look on Willard Beach surrounded by mist and a light rain. There was something so beautiful about the quietness of the moment as they saw each other for the first time, with the ocean and soft gray skies creating the perfect backdrop.
From there, everyone headed back to the McKernan Inn, where Charlotte and Ryan signed their Ketubah surrounded by their immediate family and closest friends. Their loved ones served as witnesses for this meaningful Jewish wedding tradition, making the moment feel especially personal before the larger celebration began.
For the ceremony, both Charlotte and Ryan had their sisters beside them as they exchanged vows near Spring Point Light. Sailboats drifted through the harbor behind them, creating one of those perfect Maine wedding scenes that feels almost too beautiful to be real. With the lighthouse, ocean, and boats all in view, their ceremony was filled with love and the kind of scenery that makes a coastal wedding unforgettable.
Afterward, family and friends gathered for cocktail hour under the tent and at tables outside. The views seemed to go on forever, and guests could relax, catch up, and watch the sailboats continue to pass by the wedding and lighthouse. It was the perfect way to enjoy the coast before everyone came together for dinner.
And then, once dinner was finished, the party truly began!
The reception kicked off with one of our favorite Jewish wedding traditions: the Hora. Friends and family surrounded Charlotte and Ryan on the dance floor, dancing in celebration as the couple was lifted high into the air so high they practically reached the lighting of the tent! (But don’t worry, their chair attendants were very aware of where the lights were!) The Hora is always an incredible moment because it gets everyone involved, brings the energy up immediately, and fills the room with so much laughter and excitement.
From there, the dance floor stayed busy all night. Charlotte made a quick outfit change, while Ryan traded his dress shoes for something a little more comfortable. When they returned, they popped champagne and jumped right back into the celebration with their family and friends.
