Some wedding days feel like an intimate gathering of the people who matter most. Solonge and Ryan’s wedding at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport, Maine was exactly that. From the quiet morning preparations to their heartfelt vows and an incredible choreographed first dance, every part of their day felt intentional, personal, and completely them.
As Nonantum Wedding Photographers, we love seeing couples create a wedding day around what matters most to them, and Solonge and Ryan did just that. Rather than having a traditional wedding party, they chose to spend their morning surrounded by family. Solonge got ready in the wedding suite with her hair and makeup team, her future sister-in-law, and their adorable flower girl nearby. Across the hotel, Ryan prepared in his room with his brother and ring bearer.
Without a large wedding party to coordinate, the morning felt relaxed and peaceful. Everyone had time to enjoy being together and soak in the anticipation of the day without feeling rushed.
When it was time for the ceremony, Solonge made another beautiful choice, she walked herself down the aisle to meet Ryan. It was such a powerful and meaningful moment as she made her way toward the person she had chosen to spend her life with.
The ceremony was filled with emotion, but their personal vows were especially memorable. Hearing Solonge and Ryan speak directly to each other about their love, their relationship, and the future they were building together was incredibly heartfelt. These are the moments we love capturing most as Nonantum Wedding Photographers, the little pieces of a wedding day that tell the story of who you are as a couple.
After saying “I do,” everyone headed over for cocktail hour on the lawn. The setting at the Nonantum Resort was the perfect backdrop, with views across the river and glimpses of the ocean in the distance. Guests mingled, enjoyed drinks and appetizers, and took in the beautiful Maine afternoon.
Then came the surprise!
When Solonge and Ryan made their entrance into the reception, they had completely transformed their looks. Solonge traded her wedding gown for a gorgeous sequined dress, while Ryan changed into a sharp white dinner jacket and tuxedo. They looked ready to party and they absolutely did.
Their first dance was anything but traditional. The couple had choreographed a routine complete with twists, lifts, and a dramatic dip. It was fun, unexpected, and a perfect reflection of their personalities. Watching their guests react and cheer them on made the moment even better.
From a quiet, family-centered morning to heartfelt vows, waterfront cocktails, dramatic outfit changes, and a show-stopping first dance, Solonge and Ryan’s Nonantum Resort wedding was a beautiful reminder that your wedding doesn’t have to follow a formula.
You can make the day exactly what you want it to be. For Solonge and Ryan, that meant keeping things intimate, meaningful, and focused on the people they love most while still leaving plenty of room for a little sparkle and a lot of fun.
