There are some wedding days that just feel easy. Relaxed, joyful, and completely true to the couple. Rachel and Dan’s wedding at the Eagle Mountain House in Jackson, New Hampshire was exactly that. As Jackson New Hampshire Wedding Photographers, we loved every minute of their laid-back mountain celebration, from the crisp morning air to a packed dance floor that Rachel had been eagerly anticipating all day.
It was the perfect late-summer/pre-fall Saturday in the White Mountains. Maybe it was the early-season pumpkin spice latte we enjoyed on the drive into Jackson, or maybe it really was the crispness in the morning air, but it definitely felt like fall was just around the corner.
Rachel and Dan embraced that relaxed feeling from the very beginning. Rachel spent the morning getting ready at the inn with her Maid of Honor—her twin sister while Dan took a completely different approach to wedding-day preparation: he went golfing! After his round, he returned to the inn and got ready in the couple’s suite with a friend.
Their first look took place on the back lawn near the firepit. Rather than rushing through the moment, Rachel and Dan took some time to simply be together and take it all in. We captured a few portraits while the grounds were still quiet before they headed back toward the inn to spend time with their family and friends.
Their ceremony overlooked the gorgeous White Mountain landscape, creating a spectacular backdrop as they exchanged vows. But the view wasn’t the only thing connecting them to the people they loved. Family members who couldn’t attend in person joined through video calls, and at one point, Dan’s brother Nick, who officiated the ceremony, paused everything so Rachel and Dan could stop and wave to everyone watching remotely. It was such a sweet reminder that even when loved ones couldn’t physically be there, they were still very much part of the day.
After the ceremony, everyone headed up to the Carriage House for cocktail hour. Rachel, who is a teacher, had invited some of her students to join them for the ceremony and appetizers. Seeing how excited her students were to celebrate her was incredibly sweet and gave us a glimpse into just how loved she is by the people she teaches.
Then it was time for the part of the day Rachel had been waiting for: the party!
From the moment we arrived that morning, Rachel had been talking about how excited she was to dance. She wasn’t kidding. After cocktail hour, guests moved into the tent for the reception, and the dancing started almost immediately.
During the welcome toast, Dan thanked everyone for coming and then turned to Rachel to ask if she wanted to say a few words.
Her response?
“NOPE!”
And with that, it was straight to the dance floor.
It was the perfect ending to a wedding day that felt so authentically Rachel and Dan. Relaxed mornings, mountain views, family and friends, a little golf, a lot of laughter, and a whole lot of dancing.
