Bar Harbor Wedding | Elissa and Ethan’s Adventure Wedding

I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am to share these images with you! When Elissa contacted us for her Bar Harbor wedding my mind went immediately to Otter Cliffs. When we sat down to go over locations I was so happy to hear that she and Ethan were thinking about the cliffs as well! So far this year I’ve had the pleasure of photographing weddings in flip flops, barefoot, and now hiking boots. I could get used to these adventure weddings!

Elissa and Ethan are stationed in Connecticut and when planning their elopement, Acadia National Park sprung to mind! Elissa loves the Pacific Northwest so when planning, Acadia’s foggy weather mixed with the dramatic cliffs and backdrops fit the bill without being all the way across the country.

Elissa started out with getting her hair and make up done while Ethan ventured across the island to a barber to have his hair trimmed before meeting back up at the hotel to get ready. While they got ready, the table in their hotel room was filled with letters and momentos that family members had given them for their day. Among the details was a penny with a heart engraved into it for Elissa’s shoe. A touching details was all of the letters written to Elissa from members in family for her on their wedding day. Also included were a special set of cuff links for Ethan. His family is from Ireland and sent along a really unique cuff link set. Elissa’s mom even had a small wedding cake delivered to their room that morning. Even though family and friends weren’t physically present they all were well represented in the sweetest ways possible.

After Ethan suited up, Elissa got into her dress. After they soaked in their first look we headed off towards Otter Cliffs. Once we arrived we headed down and picked out the perfect spot for their ceremony. With a tall cliff in the background and a long drop off the other side, Elissa and Ethan said their “I do’s” with the buoy off shore serving as their personal wedding bells.
