You could probably consider that their “first date”! Robert then asked Jennifer if she wanted to watch his favorite movie, Miracle, in his room and the rest is history.
Fast forward 7 years to their engagement in Saint Maarten. They walked out on the beach during sunset and Robert handed his phone to one of the hotel workers to take a photo of them. When Jennifer turned towards him, he was on his knee and proposed.
They celebrated in the same manner their relationship began – with a meal. This time they chose an Italian restaurant at the resort, arguably a much nicer venue than the college dining hall.
Fun fact Jennifer’s family is one of the oldest families on the island. Her extended family was one of the original people to settle here. So it naturally made an amazing space to bring everyone together. Having been married on an island ourselves, we know it really brings everyone together and it’s such an experience! It didn’t hurt that nearly everyone on the island knows them so every turn of the golf cart was greeted with cheers from townspeople.
Robert makes Jennifer laugh with silly jingles they create for the smallest things along with the “dad jokes” he tells that are typically not funny but he has one for every situation!
Here’s to many many years of jokes and jingles! I’m hoping there will always ones revolving around the “baby maker” and “grooms maids” from their ceremony homily!
