What a day! We are so lucky to get to witness and capture these moments for our couples.
Lorrie and Mike wanted something a little different for their wedding ceremony. They wanted it on the summit of a mountain and they wanted to take us along to capture the entire thing for them. When Lorrie first reached out, they didn’t have a final idea of what mountain they wanted to use in the White Mountains for their wedding ceremony but she told me it would be an easy hike. We’ve done up to a 9mi hike for a wedding so I wasn’t too worried. Until this past winter when I was scrolling through my instagram stories and saw that her and Mike were hiking to Everest Base Camp on vacation. I immediately have to double check what she meant by an “easy” hike!!!
These two really did pick an easy, but absolutely stunning hike up Middle Sugarloaf. We had three days of the forecast that looked a little iffy but they picked the best of the three and I think they made the perfect choice. It wasn’t full sun at the summit. In fact at times we were in the outskirts of a cloud passing through so it was a little damp at points. But all of it led to the most amazing light and atmosphere (literally) for their ceremony.
The mountains were a deep blue and green which made Lorrie’s dress pop out in several expansive scenic images. Mike was right at home at the summit with his friends while Lorrie was on the other side of this nearly 360 degree view getting ready with her girls – who are totally amazing! They hiked up with a full charcuterie board set up, all the fixings, fruit, snacks, several bottles of wine, glasses, etc.
Now every wedding we’ve been to, the couples have had a strict “no phone” policy but at this one, it was encouraged! We loved seeing all the smiling faces through the screens as every guest helped to FaceTime in someone who couldn’t make the hike but still wanted to witness. It made for great photos and memories as Lorrie and Mike got to share the day with everyone who wasn’t there as well.
We can’t wait to see them again this fall for their reception and celebration!
