I’m finding an adorable trend with our couples this year – they’re meeting on flights. I guess it’s only natural as at some point in every wedding a guest, toast, or officiant says something about how adventurous the couple is. After meeting on a flight, Leanne flew out a few weeks later to meet Tyler for their first date. At a bourbon bar. I think these two are our kindred spirits! Whether it was the bourbon or romance in the air – they found a band playing on the streets and started dancing! Although their romantic moment was quickly broken up (literally) by Tyler taking an egg to the chest from a passing car. People still throw eggs??? They both took it with a great sense of humor, a few selfies, and have been together ever since!
When we arrived Tyler was hanging out on the docks with his friends drinking fall beer (it’s acceptable now since they were married on the first official day of fall) and Leanne and her girls were hanging out up on the hill in the “Big Red” cottage enjoying sandwiches and having their hair and make up done. While the guys got rowdy playing around with green army men, the party officially kicked off when one of Leanne’s bridesmaids commandeered a speaker and started playing the High School Musical soundtrack followed by some Taylor Swift! You could feel the excitement building as each event of the morning passed, by the time Leanne was set to get into her dress, she couldn’t wait!
The same could be said for Tyler! He was a ball of energy all day just waiting for the moment he would see Leanne for the first time. This made both Dean and I super excited fo their first look! We all headed down to a side of the property that was a bit more secluded and as Leanne came down the hill towards Tyler you could see him just bursting at the seams! When he turned around to see Leanne, Tyler literally got weak in the knees!
One part of the day that didn’t go according to plan was Tyler’s entrance into the ceremony. Due to gale warnings he wasn’t able to go with his dad and brothers out on a boat. But Tyler and Leanne, being the ever adventurous, hopped in a rowboat during their cocktail hour and took a tour of the harbor area and were serenaded by a couple hanging out on one of the sailboats who were married at Harborfields two years prior!
The excitement for their day was just beginning! We absolutely adore when grooms get giddy for their wedding, and even more so when we see a groom tearing up at the altar. Leanne and Tyler met under a blue sky overlooking the harbor filled with boats, exchanged heartfelt vows, said I do, and sealed their marriage with a kiss!
