The term mega-watt smile was coined with Jocelyn in mind. She truly has a beaming smile that lights up the room and on her wedding day – she lit up EVERY room she walked into. Even when the heat got to her, she had a genuine smile on her face. Seth and Jocelyn celebrated their Granite Ridge Estate wedding surrounded by their family and friends this past Saturday and it couldn’t have been more perfect! And as Maine wedding photographers, the couple couldn’t have been more perfect to photograph!
The day started out for the couple in the home that comes with the venue rental – Jocelyn prepping with her girls on the first floor while the guys were in the lower level. I refuse to call it a basement because every room in this house had amazing views! The girls were upstairs gathered around the dining table, telling stories and sharing laughs, with a grand view of Shawnee Peak and surrounding mountains behind them. Occasionally Seth would need to come up to the bridal suite to grab a few things for getting ready – with the tradition of not seeing the bride before she walked down the aisle, he would give a little shout that he was coming so Jocelyn had a chance to step into one of the side rooms. It was so much fun to have everyone in the same home for everything! The bridesmaids could easily check to make sure the guys were still on task and the two adorable ring-bearers could hop between hanging out with their mom, a bridesmaid, and their dad, the best man.
Once everyone was ready we headed over to the beautiful wooded ceremony site which was officiated by a family member. Their ceremony couldn’t have been more unique to them, right down to their vows where Jocelyn vowed to continue to give Seth foot rubs, only if he washed his feet first, and Seth vowed to continue to stand by Jocelyn’s side through all their adventures together. It was a mix of goofy and sweet, just like the couple.
I can’t even begin to say how much we love this family. I feel like we’ve watched them grow over the years but they’ve also watched us grow. Jocelyn’s dad even made it a point to mention to us that he’s pretty sure we’ve captured nearly every family milestone over the past 10 years.
In our beginning stages of our business we photographed an amazing couple, Amanda and JD whom were in attendance today, and since then we’ve had the pleasure of photographing nearly every other wedding and life event this extended family has had. We truly feel like we are part of the family when we arrive, greeted with big hugs and lots of catching up. There’s been graduations, weddings, babies, so much joy with this whole family!
We were excited for Jocelyn and Seth’s Granite Ridge Estate wedding as it’s our first at this venue. I remember touring it just after they finished building the barn, it was winter and so cold! But now we are back to see the barn finished to perfection and filled with love!
