Some wedding days are special because of the beautiful venue or perfect weather. Others are special because of the people. Amanda and Austen’s wedding had all of those in abundance.
One of the things that made Amanda and Austen’s wedding especially stand out for us is Amanda’s mom, Connie. Nearly 18 years ago, Connie was the one who officiated our own wedding. To now have the honor of photographing her daughter’s wedding felt like life had come full circle. Being welcomed back into their family for such an important milestone was something we’ll never forget, and it made documenting Amanda and Austen’s day that much more meaningful.
Amanda and Austen’s love story started somewhere many people don’t even realize exists: Facebook Dating! When they told us how they met, we had to laugh because it wasn’t something we’d really heard much about before. (I may have even joked with Dean that I was going to look into it just to see what all the fuss was about!) Their story is proof that love really can be found in unexpected places.
Friends and family traveled from all over the country to celebrate the couple at the beautiful River Winds Estate. Blessed with perfect weather, Amanda and Austen were able to enjoy exactly what they had envisioned a wedding day spent almost entirely outdoors, soaking up the sunshine and spending quality time with the people they love most.
One of the biggest stars of the day was undoubtedly Maisey, their sweet Australian Shepherd. If you’ve ever met an Aussie, you know they’re happiest when they’re right in the middle of everything, and Maisey was no exception. She bounced back and forth between Amanda and Austen all morning while everyone got ready, making sure she didn’t miss a single moment. She even climbed onto the bed during the girls’ champagne toast, determined to be part of the celebration. Later that evening, Maisey made another appearance just in time for the first dance. From the look on her face, she seemed absolutely heartbroken that she hadn’t been invited onto the dance floor herself. It was one of the cutest moments of the entire day.
Their ceremony was heartfelt and emotional, surrounded by the lush grounds of River Winds Estate. Throughout the afternoon, guests relaxed outside, catching up with loved ones they hadn’t seen in years while enjoying the warm sunshine and beautiful scenery.
One of our favorite parts of the day, and a first for us at this venue, was the outdoor dancing on the patio. As the sun began to set, everyone gathered outside, filling the dance floor with laughter, incredible music, and nonstop energy. Watching the golden light spill across the patio while family and friends danced under the open sky was absolutely magical. Honestly… can we make outdoor receptions like this happen every weekend?
