Classic, Timeless, Perfect – if I had to pick three words to describe this wedding those would be it!
Mackenzie and Michael’s Samoset Resort wedding was one for the books: the kind of day every couple dreams of. The weather was absolutely perfect for the entire weekend. Finally! Not too hot, not too windy, and not a single rain cloud in sight. Just golden Maine sunshine and clear skies from start to finish.
The morning began with Mackenzie tucked away in the charming Springtide Cottage, surrounded by her bridesmaids. The space was buzzing with laughter, hairspray, and the unmistakable excitement of wedding day prep. It was extra special to have her aunt by her side—keeping with family tradition, she styled Mackenzie’s hair just as she had done for every wedding before hers. Between champagne toasts, joyful chatter, and last-minute details, the morning flew by.
Meanwhile, Michael and his groomsmen were up in a suite overlooking the golf course. Things were running smoothly until a small hiccup with the dry cleaners left them scrambling. Thankfully, Mackenzie’s dad swooped in like a hero, made a quick run into town, and saved the day. With everything back on track (and after a few comical bowtie struggles), the guys were ready to go. They made their way to the Lighthouse Room for portraits, where Michael shared a sweet and emotional first look with his mom.
Back at the cottage, the girls were wrapping up hair and makeup before slipping into their dresses for the big day. From the windows, they had the perfect view of Mackenzie and Michael’s first look on the lawn overlooking the ocean and the famous Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. The wind was truly a paid actor that day sending Mackenzie’s veil flying more than once, always in the most picturesque and romantic way.
Their ceremony was officiated by family friends who had also been Mackenzie’s neighbors growing up. It was heartfelt, personal, and full of meaning, with little touches that made it uniquely theirs.
Just as vows were exchanged, a stiff wind kicked up, which meant we needed to adjust plans for wedding party photos. Mackenzie and Michael put their full trust in me to find a sheltered location, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled with the results. It may not have looked like much: just behind the tent, some gravel, and a few shrubs, but the lighting was absolute perfection. From there, the night was pure celebration. Holly Heist kept the energy sky-high with a setlist of bangers that had the dance floor packed from start to finish. The only challenge was pulling Mackenzie and Michael away for just a minute to cut their cake, an adorable homage to their golden retriever pup, Ember, who was at home cheering them on in spirit.
As the evening drew to a close, the newlyweds were surrounded by their wedding party for a glowing sparkler send-off before heading into their afterparty at the Enoteca Lounge. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day filled with joy, love, and so much laughter.
