A Joyful Garden Celebration: Monica & Kevin’s Wiscasset White House Wedding
The Wiscasset White House is one of those magical venues where it feels like time slows down, it feels like you’re stepping back in time. Everything on the propery was in bloom almost mirroring the joy of a wedding day. Monica and Kevin’s Wiscasset White House wedding was the perfect day, surrounded by gardens bursting with purple, pink, and white flowers, this wedding felt like a living fairytale. And with sunshine finally breaking through for the first sunny Saturday of the year, the timing couldn’t have been better.
This was our third wedding for Monica’s family, and the day felt like a heartfelt reunion of love and celebration. Monica spent the morning getting ready, surrounded by her best friends, her mom, future mother in-laws, and her sister Melanie and sister in law, Sarah. Laughter echoed through the White House as stories were shared, mimosas were poured, and happy tears were shed, more than once. One particularly unforgettable moment came during the classic champagne pop, when Monica tossed the cage over her shoulder, accidentally hitting one of her bridesmaids in the forehead. There were plenty of laughs, and luckily, no injuries—just a great story to tell!
One of the most touching moments of the day came during Monica’s first look with her dad. As soon as he turned around and saw her, the tears began to flow, first from dad, then Melanie, then mom… and yes, even me. It was a moment so full of love, it filled every corner of the garden.
While Monica shared special moments with her family, Kevin and his groomsmen hung out in the barn, playing games and soaking in the calm before the festivities began. When it came time for Monica and Kevin’s first look, it happened in the heart of the front garden. As they saw each other for the first time that day, her parents watched quietly from the kitchen garden windows, while the groomsmen peeked out from the second story of the barn. Monica and Kevin exchanged handwritten letters, adding an intimate, emotional layer to their already special moment.
The ceremony took place on the front lawn of the home, framed by trees, gardens and sunshine. Six flower girls and ring bearers made their entrance in true scene-stealing fashion, with one groomsman hilariously carrying half of them down the aisle, cue the laughter and audible “awws” from every guest.
Cocktail hour flowed between the solarium (which looked like it had been plucked from a dream) and the area just in front of the reception tent. Guests mingled with cocktails in hand, enjoying the perfect breeze and garden views. Some even sneaking into the hidden picnic spot below the willow’s branches.
And then… the party began.
As Monica and Kevin were introduced into the reception, the energy shifted into high gear and it never came down. Their guests were ready to celebrate, and the dance floor stayed packed from start to finish.
