There’s something incredibly special about being invited back to photograph a couple as their story continues to grow. Years ago, I had the absolute joy of capturing this couple’s engagement photos and later, their unforgettable wedding at the Samoset Resort. So when they reached out—this time to document a family session during their vacation in York, Maine—I was honored, excited, and full of gratitude.
As a Short Sands Family Photographer, I’m lucky to capture the beauty of one of Maine’s beaches, and this session was no exception. Short Sands Beach, located right in the heart of York, is the perfect spot for family photos. With its soft, golden sand and peaceful ocean waves, it provides the ideal backdrop for a relaxed and unforgettable experience.
This time, it wasn’t just the couple—I had the pleasure of photographing their kiddos and extended family, creating lasting memories during their Maine summer getaway. We met just before sunset, when the light was soft and golden, perfect for their session. The kids ran along the shoreline while parents, grandparents, joined in for a mix of posed and spontaneous moments. It was the kind of session that feels less like work and more like being invited into someone’s life.
What made this session so meaningful wasn’t just the gorgeous setting or the perfect weather—it was the connection. Seeing the couple now, surrounded by their loved ones, reminded me why I love what I do. From their engagement to their wedding, and now these joyful family moments, it’s a true honor to witness and document the chapters of their story.
