The L Family’s Bar Harbor Family Portraits on a Cloudy Morning

Bar Harbor is probably my favorite area in all of Maine. Although, it could use a sandy beach that was easy to get to! I’m spoiled with that here in Southern Maine. But I digress.

In Southern Maine the only time we will work with families for portraits along the water is at either sunrise or sunset – but in Bar Harbor and Acadia it’s much easier to have family portraits at any time of the day. Usually because summers on the island always start out with a foggy or cloudy morning. This way we don’t have to worry about everyone posing with the full sun in their eyes! If you go back and look through our posts from Bar Harbor, most are in cloudy, foggy weather and we’re not mad about that! It makes the island so serene!

At the Bar Harbor Regency, where the L family stayed on their vacation, the path along the water is also lined with trees which make for great shady spots. We took advantage of the entire property and used a few locations for formals and then candids of the kids running and playing with their families and each other. Everyone even switched into their sports gear for some additional groupings showing off their love for their favorite sports teams (and a bit of light jabbing at those who wore rival jerseys.)

I feel like I’ve been living in Bar Harbor this summer for both weddings and family portraits and I won’t complain. It’s given me time to explore even further and find some secret gems along the way.
