Kettle Cove is always one of my favorite places to photograph because of how the sun sets on this beach. Maine is on the East Coast but this beach faces west so we get that dreamy soft light towards sunset. When matriarch, Marty, contacted me for her session she expressed her love of the rocky coastline but also getting to dip their toes in the ocean at the end. Sunset falling at high tide can make combining those things a bit of a challenge but Kettle Cove fit the bill!
For the G Family we had such a variety of lighting – as you can see we started out bright and sunny before a thunderstorm started to head our way. Once those clouds hit was got this cool hazy lighting – it’s not something we get every day here on the east coast and it’s a dream! I love working with the soft lighting and of course, who doesn’t love a dramatic sky?
This family was so fun to work with. With the two grandkids aged 2 & 4 it brought me right back to those wild times when our girls were that little. Bundles of energy! There were completely amused with me eating seaweed and balancing rocks on my head though – my kids would just roll their eyes at that now.
