The sun was shining for Jessie and John’s Harborview at Jones Landing Wedding
You know you’re going to have a fun and chill day when you hop in the car with the bridesmaids and the brides dad is playing Phish.
Jessie and John came to Maine from Texas for their wedding and brought along with them family and friends from all over the US. And when planning a Maine Destination Wedding, there’s no better spot than Peaks Island!
We started the day with the ladies at Headgames Salon in downtown Portland where they were pampered while getting their hair and make up done. The girls shared laughs and stories from high school and college with each other. Two of Jessie’s bridesmaids were friends from high school and two were from college.
How did John propose?
John planned to propose to Jessie on their first trip abroad together to Iceland for a week of hiking the Laugavegur trail. After several emails with the trekking company, he had it planned out to the exact day and what mountain peak he would pop the question. However, fate decided to not make it easy for John. Right from the get go, their flight was delayed, leading to a 12 hour layover in the Minneapolis airport and missing the start of their original hiking trek. Through sheer luck, Jessie and John were able to join a trek that left the following day, and John slyly coordinated a new mountain top proposal plan set for the tallest peak on the final day. The morning of the proposal, John’s plans were AGAIN derailed by heavy fog, causing them to skip this last peak and instead traverse some smoky obsidian-covered lava fields. After all John’s careful planning, finding an alternative center stage was left up to their goofy French guide. When John got the thumbs up from the Frenchman, he dropped to his knee and gave Jessie the happiest surprise of her lifetime!
