Bettina and Colin's Point Lookout Wedding | Maine Wedding Photographers

Bettina and Colin’s Point Lookout wedding was an absolute stunner! With views for miles, a slight cooling breeze and temps that were just right for hanging out on the deck, everyone was ready to party the day away. As Maine wedding photographers, Point Lookout is a dream location with enough space for the couple to get ready and not run in to each other, everything all in one location, and amazing sunset views! We were so sad to hear that the venue has been sold and will be closing, but we are so happy that our last wedding there was to celebrate Bettina and Colin!

There were so many personal touches throughout the day that you’ll see in the images! Colin and Bettina met while playing soccer and have continued to carry the sport throughout their dating lives and into their marriage. From their grand intro into the reception where they were bouncing a soccer ball between them to the best man’s speech where he mentioned all the matches they played together over the years.

Bettina’s family is German so there were a few traditional events throughout the day like the log cutting! The saw they used has been passed down and used at family weddings for years! An old German wedding custom, the tradition of cutting a log represents the first obstacle that the couple must overcome in their marriage. They must work together to “overcome the obstacle” by sawing through the log. Using a large, long saw with two handles, the couple demonstrates their teamwork to friends and family, and their willingness and ability to master the difficulties that inevitably arise in a marriage.

There was also some Polka music at the reception that got everyone dancing! I loved seeing everyone out there dancing and having a fun time, I was secretly trying to figure out the dance steps because darn it, I’m going to try it. Following the Polka there was a round of salsa that had Colin’s mom cutting a rug out on the dance floor as well!
