I’m not crying, you’re crying. Kate and Matt’s wedding was so emotional! Matt cried, Kate cried, Matt’s grandmother cried. It was a gold mine to capture photographically - I love when families get emotional. That’s where my heart sings.
It couldn’t have been a more beautiful day for these two. With the classic sounds of the ocean, from lapping waves to the ringing buoy off shore they said their vows on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean with Otter Cliffs in the background.
Kate and Matt were married by their colleague who was the principal at the high school both of them worked at. She said she was personally responsible for this day so it was only natural that she be the one to make it official! Their officiant made their day even more special by a little mid-ceremony surprise which included everyone in attendance coming up to the couple and creating a rock carin with rocks that had special meaning to them. Each stone was collected from places of special meaning, presented by each family member, and stacked on top of each other in Kate and Matt’s hands. If you’re not familiar with a Carin it is a navigational marker for back country hiking. They’ll always be able to find their way back to each other and to their family.
After the ceremony, Kate’s mom had one more little emotional secret up her sleeve - a speech written by her brother who was unable to attend. Her mom read it out loud while her father recorded it to send back to her brother at home. He was in the hospital with his wife while she was in labor with their first child! Talk about a special day!!
Again, I’m not crying, you’re crying.
They had the best day ever on the coast of Maine, saying “I do” and touring around the park and downtown Bar Harbor.
